very own ocean in a bottle! March 2016Ocean Theme Unit
We have been learning a lot about the ocean this week. There are many different types of animals that live in the ocean and the ocean has several different zones in which these animals live.
The students took a break and created a fun ocean-themed snack. They made an ocean scene with fish on a graham cracker. They turned out great and the students really enjoyed eating their creations. They also painted with water colors. They are making a sun catcher with coffee filters. Take a look at all of their creativity. Mr. Deets and Mrs. Kraemer even stopped by for a snack!! ☺ March Starfish

The students recently did a Mr. Popper's Penguin Reader's Theatre in class. They enjoyed it so much they wanted to do it a second time. The second time I let them pick their own parts. I watched as they organized the entire play on their own. The previous team building activities have been a success in teaching them how to work together as a team.
The students have Art Class twice a month. Here are some photos of their most recent project. They made flip flops and created patterns. Look at how awesome they turned out.
Ellis Boot Camp
The entire school participated in the Ellis Boot Camp. This was an afternoon spent listening and learning about school rules & behavior on the playground, cafeteria, library, office, nurse, and the hallways). The students learned about responsibility and how to show respect.

During the first week of school the students worked together in a TEAM BUILDING activity. They had a specific number of marshmallows, pieces of spaghetti, a piece of tape, and a piece of yarn. The concept was to see which team could work together to build the largest structure.

The students had another team activity assignment. They had to line up from tallest to shortest without talking to each other. It was challenging, but they did an amazing job communicating to each other without using words.
